Shortly after launching ‘Older Ladies’ in June of 2014, a single mom in San Angelo TX raising two teen age boys by making tutus (yep, tutus!) sent me the sweetest letter of appreciation. In it, she told me I had deeply touched her and she offered to do what she could to help me spread the word of Older Ladies. Well, considering I was pretty much doing all the promotion single handedly, I graciously accepted and it was a funny little dance doing something neither one of us had ever done before. Crystle Martinez and her sons have proven to be three of the most amazing people I have ever come across. I can pretty much say they are each hearts with legs.
Not only did Crystle go so far as to create her own web server to promote me, she contacted just about every radio station in the country to see if they would give ‘Older Ladies’ air play .
When the boys saw how much their mother believed in what I was doing and how hard she was working on top of everything else, they jumped on the Donnalou bandwagon and helped Crystle help me. When Crystle’s father saw the enthusiasm of the boys, he jumped in as well.
As I said, these are no ordinary people. A few days before Thanksgiving, I received this letter from Crystle.
“I told the boys if they wanted a big Thanksgiving dinner that “kitchen better be cleaned up”. I just went in there for a cup of coffee and not only is the kitchen amazingly tidy and dishes are sparkling but there is a Massive Turkey in the sink! Uhmm, I haven’t shopped for the turkey yet! They got up early this morning and went grocery shopping! All the fixins too are waiting for me to cook! best site to order viagra online Love them! They said I was going to be too busy so they thought they would help out! I asked them where they got the money, Hello Momma you always put the “special occasion” grocery money in the old coffee tin, then Angel hands me the receipt, Cezar the change! They are going to make two women extremely happy one day!”
So, you’ve seen me with my tutus in various pictures and my new video, “If I Were Enlightened.” I get tutu care packages all the time and I am living proof that tutus are not just for ballerinas anymore! I wore the Autumn tutu on Thanksgiving Day in the Castro of San Francisco and I was the envy of many little girls and cross dressers! I wore it to a dance and brought a smile to everyone’s face. I have a red one I shall wear for Christmas! They are for every occasion all year round!
You too can be the proud owner of a tutu and support this amazing family. To get one for Christmas, order by Dec. 13th. (Crystle has contacted an organization of single mothers who need work and they are all standing by eagerly awaiting to make the perfect tutu for your waist, your head, your friend, your child and/or your pets.)
It is never tutu late to get your very own!
